Youth Services Bureau Foundation | Ottawa Business Journal
The Youth Services Bureau (YSB) provides life-changing programs and services to youth aged 12 and older and their families, in the areas of mental health counselling, shelter and housing, support for employment and legal services. YSB staff support over 3,000 young people every month, no matter where they live, what they look like or who they love.
With the support of our community, we have helped change the lives of tens of thousands of young people so that they can lead independent, healthy and stable lives.
Throughout COVID-19, YSB remains an essential service for Ottawa youth and families.

How you can help
To give
To meet fundraising needs – particularly in the areas of mental health, shelter and housing, and employment – the YSB Foundation raises funds throughout the year through grants, digital fundraising campaigns, direct mail and email campaigns, as well as through partnership and sponsorship opportunities. The Foundation is honored to work with its corporate and foundation partners, sponsors, individual donors, as well as community and youth groups to ensure young people have access to our programs and services.
Stand Up Ottawa: YSB welcomes workplace, family and community teams to its annual Stay Up Ottawa event (formerly known as YSB SleepOUT for Youth). Fully bilingual and complete with an exciting online evening program, this year’s virtual event takes place on November 26. Bringing together work crews, families, community leaders and YSB staff, participants pledge to spend a night sleeping in their backyards or on their patios, while raising funds to support the two shelters and the four YSB apartment buildings for youth who were previously homeless. This year is the 9th annual event, which has raised over $1.5 million since its inception. In addition to support from sponsors as well as corporate and family teams, a large portion of the funds raised each year come from local youth, who step up to support their peers in need in our community.

Funding priorities

The YSB Foundation’s fundraising priorities focus on two major challenges for young people in our community: mental wellness and affordable housing. YSB is the lead agency for youth mental health in the Ottawa region and provides services to youth with mental health issues as well as support for their families. We’re raising much-needed funds to ensure young people can access our virtual, walk-in youth mental health clinic, 24/7 crisis phone line and online chat service. 24-hour crisis cases, our short-term mental health centre, our mobile crisis team, as well as our two dedicated youth shelters and four apartment buildings, and the Center d’accueil pour jeunes du downtown.
